Our Story

How it all started...

In 1970 a few families met in a home in Clarence, New York. Soon they were asked to consider being part of a church plant. They rented space in an American Legion Hall on Goodrich Road and called a pastor and a family. In 1984 that pastor felt a calling to take the gopsel down south. For two years the church prayed and looked for a new pastor, and in 1986 a new pastor was called to lead the church. Pastor Terry Bowman has faithfully served as a Pastor/Elder for over 30 years. In 1987 the church was able to purchase land on Goodrich Road, and in December of the same year they help their first worship service in the current building.  The rapid building of the church was due in large to God's provision and many of the members, families, and friends doing most of the constructions.

Expanding the vision...

For over thirty years Emmanuel Church of Clarence has sought to share the gospel, and make disciples in the Western New York region. God's word makes it clear that the Church exist to join in his redemptive plan for the world. We believe that what God is going to do He will primarily do in and through His people. Emmanuel Church of Clarence exist to glorify God for the good of the community, through the mission of God.

Where we are headed...

Like many churches across the region and country the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the church and the region in many ways. We are currently in a process of rebuilding, transitioning, and reopening some of the ministries that were paused due to covid.

As we look to the future we find ourselves asking and praying one question, "What does God want for this region"

We are confident that God's redemptive plan for this region is not done and the gospel is still achieving its goal.

We know that God wants to see the gospel go out to all people in this region and beyond.

We know God wants His people to join Him on mission, for his glory, and man's redemption.

We know that God will continue to work out His redemptive plan in and through His people.

We are seeking to engage the community and region for the gospel, serve and love those God brings to Emmanuel, make disciples, equip people and families to do the work of ministry in their own circles, and we will continue to glorify God for the good of the community, through the mission of God.
